Light roast Ecuadorian coffee, Typica Mejorado (varietal), 72 hour anaerobic washed process. This coffee was grown at Finca Lugmapata near Mount Chimborazo in the Ecuadorian Andes. In fact, this is the closest farm to Chimborazo, making it closer to the sun on than any other coffee farm on earth (see https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/highestpoint.html for more). Lugmapata has been in the Merino family for over 100 years, although coffee has only been in production since 2016. Enrique Merino, who is in charge of the farm, had an inkling of the farm's potential after seeing several 40 year old coffee trees that were still thriving. Since then they've gone on to plant over 50,000 trees and have won or placed near the top in the Cup of Excellence multiple times. Further, the farm actively works to enrich the lives of their neighbors by cultivating nursery plants and offering assistance with growing specialty coffee and teaching others how to run a sustainable and high quality operation to improve their livelihoods.
We are very proud to offer this stunning coffee as part of our new ongoing series called "Aurora". Through Aurora, our aim is to explore distinctly different varietals and processing methods in order to showcase the upper echelon of what is being produced today in specialty coffee.

Note: This coffee is whole-bean. We feel this is the best option to preserve freshness, flavor, and aroma. If you need your coffee ground, please choose a grind level option and we'll be happy to grind it accordingly.
Ecuador - Finca Lugmapata, Typica Mejorado Anaerobic Washed
Aromas of lemongrass and jasmine, giving way to light tropical fruits and caramelized sugar. Intense honey sweetness abounds as the cup cools, as light florals and flavors of pineapple and lime are enveloped in a slick and viscous mouthfeel that allows for a very long finish.
We prefer this coffee brewed in a V60 or similar conical pour over brewer, with a 1:16 coffee to water ratio and a medium-fine grind. Brew time should be between 3:00 and 3:15 mintues and poured in multiple stages for maximum sweetness and even extraction.
